Alicia – a morning at the field
I met Alicia during the fitness show in north Haven back in April.
She came to the table (literally) with a selection of ideas, tears and such. I knew right then I wanted to work with her as she had a great look, and was willing to work at it! We managed to shoot one early morning at the end of May. I’m still going through the photos but I wanted to start sharing now.
This by far is one of my favorite shots of the day that I’ve edited. She was jumping around and I was laying on the ground having her run at me, jump over me, near me… Girl was a trooper for sure! We were going for that edgy fitness ad look, along the lines of a Nike or Under Armour type feel. I personally am very happy with the result!
Here are some other shots I’ve edited(still more to come). Again, personally I really enjoy the photos and working with Alicia to create them. Feedback she got from her trainers and coaches are more smiling photos. So round two I’ll make sure and try to focus (no pun intended) on more commercial, happy type of shots. (That is once I figure out what that exactly means in the world of fitness!)
Finally… getting to posting!
So life has been VERY crazy and hectic, but all in a great ways.
April 16th came and went and I workd my rear off. But I would do it again. I met so many great people and just had a tremendous day.
Here are some photos from the day. I really want to sit and go through the photos and select some for myself, but these are their photos they selected.
Just checking in – status update
So, we went on vacation, yes I need to grab some photos and post them up.
Work has been pretty busy, especially after shooting 12 fitness models April 16th! That was a VERY busy day, but well worth the experience. I will have some photos to share soon.
I also started to work a bit more on a redesign of my site. I decided some time back to start working over a few concept ideas. Still trying to find that ‘look’ which will really express what photosbymike is (and isn’t). Trust me, much harder than one would think, considering I’m so picky! Then there are the time issues… too many other things I want to do!
I have ‘given up’ the blog client search…
Nope – LiveWriter did the same thing! Uploaded two seperate files as well. I guess the fine folks of WordPress really did have the best solution (for me).
After much reading, and in speaking to a few people (thanks John), I’ve decided to FOCUS on the content vs. presentation. I’ll just use the build in editor, it is quick, easy, available anywhere.
I think I was looking for more control over posts, taking me back to newspaper days, layout, headings, columns, gutters, text wrapping, etc etc…. Time to let it go.
So now I will work on submitting some photos here, talking about them and such. And more importantly, at least TRYING to write something every day, 2 days or so. What is the purpose of a blog if I do not use it!
Blogging with Windows Live Writer
I wasn’t overly thrilled with how BlogDesk handled images/thumbnails. I took a look at some review of Windows Live Writer and surprisingly, most were very positive. Now for the test, to add some photos!
2nd BlogDesk post
So in looking at the first post with BlogDesk, I did notice something ‘odd’ about the pics.
While using the client, BlogDesk told me the images were too big for the post (a neat feature mind you). So I created a thumbnail. Well I read the next pop up, which of course told me it woudl create a new, smaller image for the post.
The post looks ok, the images are there, however, what BlogDesk REALLY did was upload the original AND the BlogDesk created thumbnail. I think I really expected it to just handle images the way WordPress did.
I’m going to look at another tool, more to follow.
Trying my hand at blog clients
Ok so I wasn’t overly thrilled with the default editor. I think I’m probably being too picky about ‘style’ and presentation (after all this IS a photography site) vs. actual content.
So I figure I would take a look at a few Blogging clients.
This is my 1st post with BlogDesk ![]()
Here are some simple, rather random photos, using this client.
This a collage of Lou’s office (my wife) I worked on.
here is a photo centered.
Working on Blog and editing pics
So I am trying to figure this whole ‘blog thing’ out, making it more usable for me. I am also editing some pics of Danyelle. Figure why not do both, work on Blog, edit pics, try new plugin.
I was looking for WordPress plugins to handle some ‘gallery’ items.
This is a test of the gallery:
My 1st blog
And I added a thumbnail too! – which is good, considering I want this to be a blog about photos!
